Somehow related to the article on Web-activated Telephony, the ever popular free calls company Voipbuster has similair functionality built in the latest release of the voipbuster client.
In the tab labelled ’start’ there is a new field called ‘Direct Callback Nr’. Filling this with your own number, and then dial a different number using the dialpad, will set up the connection for you. Normal voipbuster rates apply.

So you’ve heard how using Internet telephony can lower your bills on long distance calling and lower bills is what you need. Your only problem is that you have no fancy broadband connection and no expensive voip equipment.
So no savings for you this time? Not necessarily! Web-activated telephony to the rescue!
How does it work? Well, it’s really simple. Buy some credits from Jajah or Talkety, go to their site and fill the form with your own telephone number and the number of whom you are trying to reach.
Than sit back and relax. Now all you have to do is wait until your phone rings, pickup, and speak to the one on the other side.
The service has set up the connection for you, using cheap Internet connections and thus for a much lower rate than traditional telephone companies. Then they use a very small piece of the PSTN to connect to your traditional phone.
Easy as that!

Dutch Telecom and VoIP Provider KPN is warning their customers that they may be unreachable when using the supplied modem (Named the ‘Experiabox’, a rebranded siemens device) together with peer2peer filesharing applications. The Experiabox seems to have some problems handling the multiple connections that p2p-applications tend to setup.

It seems that Finarea S.A., well known from outlets as Voipbuster, VoipCheap, VoipStunt, Netappel and others has opened up a new outlet: InternetCalls.com. Same concept as ever: cheap rates and free calls to landlines on an ever changing list of countries. Extras are free DID (dial-in-direct) numbers and (new!) call forwarding to a fixed line when you are offline. However, since there is no such thing as a free lunch, make sure you read some negative experiences (and positives as well) and this interesting article as well.
